Lenae Lillywhite Smith

LenaeFebruary 23, 1980 – March 10, 2016

“Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.”  On March 10, 2016, this world lost a virtuous woman as Lenae Lillywhite Smith returned to her Heavenly Father after a tragic ATV accident. She was born on February 23, 1980, in Farmington, New Mexico, to Paul Jay Lillywhite and Bonnie Jean Poulsen Lillywhite. She was the fourth of eight children.

She spent her childhood playing with siblings and friends, drawing, hiking, camping and picnicking with her family. From an early age she exemplified what her Aunt Sheryl described as, “Beauty without arrogance, talent without conceit, kindness without reward.” She was grounded, kind and humble. These attributes inspired her Grandpa Lillywhite to call her his little “goodie weed.” She was known ever after as “Weed.”

The family moved to St. George, Utah, in 1986, and Lenae enjoyed growing up among the red cliffs of Dixie. She graduated from Dixie High School in 1998. She was the Sterling Scholar runner-up in Visual Arts and played volleyball and basketball and ran cross country. She then attended Dixie College and graduated in 2000 Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Art. While at Dixie College she met and fell in love with fellow artist Derek Clyde Smith, the love of her life. They began their forever family on April 10, 1999, when they were married in the St. George Temple. They were blessed with four lovely children – Kaebri (13), Tasia (11), Zade (7), and Trigg (3). Lenae loved her children with all her heart.

Lenae is a superb artist! Her love of art began to flower as a small child, and she loved to share those talents throughout her life. Lenae was professionally commissioned to paint and draw many portraits, caricatures, graphics, and murals over the years. Mostly, she just loved to draw, and drew on everything! She used her love of art to bless others.

Lenae loved spending time with her family. Together they enjoyed being in the outdoors—camping, hiking, hunting, and fishing. They also loved to play together and just laugh, tell jokes and sing funny songs. They loved to cook together, draw together, and read together, and anything that did not involve shopping!

Lenae was a faithful disciple of Jesus Christ. She was a friend to all. Lenae never judged or spoke unkindly of anyone. She was never jealous and found pure joy in others’ happiness. In addition to serving her family and friends, she loved serving her Heavenly Father and ward family in her callings in Young Women’s, Primary and Relief Society.

Lenae is survived by her beloved husband, Derek, her four children, her parents and her siblings Lou Anne (Bryan) Randall, Jared (Brynn) Lillywhite, Jennifer (Ryan) Borrowman, Julene (Lance) Weaver, Lorin (Christie) Lillywhite, Jerel (Kalehua) Lillywhite, and Landon Lillywhite. She is also survived by her grandmothers Anna Lou Lillywhite Kurtz and Mary Delsa Poulsen, her loving in-laws Kevin and Marie Smith, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Kayla was raised in Mission Viejo, California, and St George, Utah. She graduated from Dixie High in 1998. Kayla was a natural beauty, a California girl at heart. She loved the beach and In-N-Out. She loved good times. Her deep laugh was one of the favorite sounds her husband, Will, loved to hear. She enjoyed art and reading. Like her mother, she loved animals. Kayla especially loved her cats and big dogs. She had beautiful hands that she inherited from her Grandma Mac and a special touch she inherited from her Grandma Margrave. Kayla loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She always believed in the power of Priesthood blessings and would often call for them, especially from her father, Kim. She had a gentle spirit. She accepted all without judgment or guile. But above all, she was a mother with the purest love and selfless heart.

She was called to endure much in this life. She suffered from physical diseases like Ulcerative Colitis and mental health issues like Major Depressive Disorder and Anxiety. She bore her burdens well. She fought long and hard and endured the best she could. She found comfort in the Gospel of Jesus Christ and in the holy scriptures. One of her favorite passages was in Ether 12:27 of the Book of Mormon.

“And if men come unto me I will show unto them their weakness. I give unto men weakness that they may be humble; and my grace is sufficient for all men that humble themselves before me; for if they humble themselves before me, and have faith in me, then will I make weak things become strong unto them.”

After finishing school at Hurricane High School, Garland entered the US Army and saw battle during World War II. When Garland returned home, he found the love of his life, Vonda Hardy, in “the wood pile” and they were married in La Verkin, Utah.

Garland is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various callings. Vonda and Garland raised four children: Emilee Phillabaum (Hurricane), Dan (Jeanne) Hirschi (La Verkin), Brian (Melanie) Hirschi and Paul (Barbara) Hirschi (Cedar City).

Hardworking would describe Garland, maintaining a full time job with the Columbia Iron Mines as well as running heavy equipment while working on the farm in Rockville. After retiring, Vonda and Garland made the farm in Rockville, Utah their permanent home. Garland continued to keep himself busy by raising cattle and hay on the farm; even making himself “semi” famous with recordings of his cow calls.Garland-Hirschi

Garland is survived by his four children, 14 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren along with his twin sisters, Zelda (Larry) Stott (La Verkin) and Nelda Barker (Wyoming). He is preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Vonda; his parents and 2 siblings.

The family would like to thank the Hurricane Care Center and Hospice for the loving care that was shown to Garland in the last few weeks of his life.

Wallace MorganOctober 15, 1924 — March 22, 2016

Wallace Compton Morgan, 91, went home to be with the Lord on March 22, 2016. Wally was born October 15, 1924, in Clearfork, West Virginia. He was the son of the late Andrew S. and Biddie E. Morgan of Baileysville, West Virginia.

Wally retired from the U.S Civil Service in 1975 after 30 years of service to his country. Ten years were spent in the U.S. Air Force beginning in January 1943 during World War II with one tour of duty in the China, Burma, India Theater of operations and the remaining service within the Continental United States. His civil service career took him to England where he spent 20 years working for the Air Force. Wally met and married his wife Theresa F. Morgan in 1969 and they lived in St. George, Utah, since 1975. Wally was preceded in death by all of his 16 siblings.

Wally was an avid golfer and played for many years. Then in 1994 he turned his life over to the Lordship of Jesus Christ and has served the Lord since that date. Wally produced a 30 minute radio program called “Wally’s Gospel Half Hour” and has been able to spread the Gospel throughout Southern Utah and Parts of Nevada. This program was aired on the radio for over 12 years. Spreading the Gospel and helping others was Wally’s primary goal since becoming a born again Christian in 1994.

His wife, Theresa resides in St. George, Utah. Wally became a member of the First Southern Baptist Church but always insisted that he would go to Heaven as a Christian in lieu of being a Baptist. Southern Gospel music was a music that he loved and he had a nursing home ministry where he would go and sing to the residents. He has been active in prison ministries since 1994.

He wants everyone to know that as of now, he has something that money cannot buy and that is Eternal life with God the Father in Heaven. And above all Wally wants to see all of you around the Throne of God in Heaven, so if you have not already done so, turn your life over to the Lordship of Jesus Christ and do it now before it’s too late.

Wally requested that no formal services be held.

Arrangements under the direction of Metcalf Mortuary, 435-673-4221.

My Sweet Husband

I’m so honored to be your wife
You gave me love throughout my life

You held me near thru joy and tears
You’ve been my everything for all these years

You brought the sunlight to my heart
It’s a love so true we’ll never part

The moments seem to fly so fast
But through all of time our love will last

Your tender sweet and loving ways
I truly cherish all our days

You touched my hand my heart my soul
I’ll never question that you gave me all

God created you for me
Our life together was meant to be

I’ll see you in the sun and stars
I’ll always know you’re never far

It’s not goodbye I’ll be there soon
Save me a spot above the moon

We’ll love and laugh and dance the swing
With your healed body we can do everything

You go first and lead the way
Come back for me another day

Peace and comfort is my wish for you
