Martha Weeda

Martha Dorothy Kruse Weeda, age 94, died on Sunday, Dec. 11, 2016, in St. George, Utah. Martha was born in Wakenda, Missouri, on Nov. 27, 1922, to Henry and Alma Kruse. She married Elmer Weeda on Feb. 20, 1948, in Creston, Iowa. They had a dairy and egg farm in Iowa. After moving to Arizona in 1956 they raised cotton, safflower and grains along with a small cow herd. In 1961 they moved to Delta, Utah, where they raised alfalfa hay and grains. Elmer passed away in 1990 and she moved to St. George in 2000.

Martha is survived by sons and daughters, Walter (Linda) Weeda of Sandy, Utah; Wilma May of Craig, Colorado; Lois; and Arnold (Serena) Weeda of Delta, Utah; 12 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren; three sisters and one brother, Thelma Cahill of Prescott, Arizona, Pauline Armstrong of Coolidge, Arizona, Elizabeth Miller of Waldron, Arkansas, and Henry Kruse of Florence, Arizona. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer, brother, Emiel, son-in-law, George May, and great-grandson, Brighton Weeda.

Funeral services

  • There will be a visitation Thursday, Dec. 15, 2016, from 5-6 p.m. in the Spilsbury Mortuary, 110 S. Bluff, St. George, Utah, and also one hour prior to services on Saturday at the Community Center in Delta.
  • Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 17, 2016, at 11 a.m. in the Delta Community Center, 75 W. Main Street., Delta, Utah.  
  • Interment will take place in the Delta Cemetery.
