April 9, 1959-April 10,2023

Larkin A. Farnsworth, age 64, was born April 9, 1959, to Larry A and Marolyn Farnsworth in Las Vegas, Nevada, and passed away on April 10, 2023, at his home in Cedar City, Utah.

Larkin graduated from Las Vegas High School, got a bachelor’s degree at BYU in Computer-Aided Design Engineer, and a master’s degree from General Dynamics University. He worked on a project for the Space Needle. Later he worked at the SW Mental Health Clinic in Cedar City. He was married to Laurie Felt Farnsworth in the St. George Temple on Nov. 25, 1981, and has a daughter, Valerie Diane. He has three grandchildren (Harrison, Felicity andRoyce). Places he’s lived are Tucson, Arizona; Valencia, California; San Diego, California, Las Vegas, Nevada; Springdale and Cedar City, Utah.

Larkin served an honorable two-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Arkansas, Little Rock Mission. Other callings included Elder’s Quorum instructor, Executive Secretary to the Bishop and a minister. He always had a lot of friends while growing up and enjoyed playing pool with them at his home in Las Vegas. As a child, Larkin had asthma and at the age of 12 had allergy shots for two years, resulting in no more asthma.

He was unable to play sports so he turned to music, playing the violin until he broke his arm twice and couldn’t play anymore. He was very skilled at many things, his most enjoyable result was turning his Vega into a hot rod, even sewing seat covers for it. He built the “cabin” where his mother now resides in Springdale. Larkin was a handyman, too, fixing things all the time.

Everyone loved Larkin because he was kind, thoughtful and willing to help anyone. When his father died, he took it upon himself to look after his mother, which he did. He called her daily to check on her and came most weekends to take her shopping or just to visit and help fix things. He was good at taking her to appointments, and making sure her car was serviced. He was a wonderful, caring son. He will be greatly missed.

Larkin is preceded in death by his father Larry A Farnsworth and grandparents (Larkin and Ruth Gifford of Springdale). He is survived by his mother Marolyn (Gifford) Farnsworth; former wife Laurie Felt Farnsworth; sister Jet Farnsworth; daughter Valerie Payette (Steve); grandchildren (Harrison, Felicity and Royce Payette); niece Olivia Alfred (Grant); and nephew Ethan Crowl.

There will be a grave dedication at the Jolley-Gifford Cemetery in Springdale on Friday, April 21, at 11 a.m., and a luncheon immediately following for family at the church in Springdale at noon for a Celebration of Life.

Family and friends are invited to share tributes online. Arrangements and memorial tree planting by Serenity Funeral Home of Southern Utah, 435-986-9100.
