Jan. 9, 1934-March 16, 2023
Jerry Lawrence Campbell, 89 years young, passed away on March 16, 2023, with his daughters by his side.
He was born in Rigby, Idaho Jan. 9, 1934, to Lawrence Oscar Campbell and Willie May Quinn Campbell. He married Jean Page Campbell on June 10, 1955, in Rigby, Idaho.
He was raised in Rigby, Idaho. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the Army and was stationed in Korea. He was discharged in 1955. He came back home, where he met and married Jeani.
They moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, where he attended the University of Utah and received a master’s degree in civil engineering. After receiving his master’s degree, he worked for numerous companies before starting a few of his own: For-Shor Company and Campbell’s Company, to name a couple.
He joined the Air National Guard Reserve, where he made many lifelong friends who still, to this day, meet for coffee every Monday morning. After serving for 30 years, he was able to retire as a Major. He was proud to serve his country.
He loved to travel with our mother. They were able to visit Scotland, England and Mexico but his favorite was Korea. He loved taking the boat to Lake Powell — it was always on the list since 1968. He was able to get a private pilot’s license and purchased a small plane. He would fly all over the country. His favorite place to fly would be down to Baja, Mexico to go fishing.
He “retired” in St. George, Utah and became very involved in the community and politics until Jeani became ill, at which time he took care of her until her death in 2021.
He is survived by two of his three children, Cydney Palmer (Michael), Keli Kesler (Christopher), Shannon Campbell (daughter-in-law), 16 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Jeani, his parents, sister Lynda, brother Douglas and his son Jerry Jr.
Per his wishes, there will be no services. But if you would like to make a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association in Jerry and Jeani Campbell’s name, we thank you.
