Apr. 3, 1947 – Jan. 23, 2023

Judith Ellen White (Judie) was born in Tacoma, Washington on Apr. 3, 1947, to Ray Lee and Betty Jane Locke. She was raised with her brother Richard Alan, in Tacoma, and the family was blessed to live next door to her grandparents, who she loved and were instrumental in her upbringing.

Judie married James E. Dovre on Jan. 14, 1967. They spent their early married years in Renton and Steilacoom, Washington, four years in Anchorage, Alaska and then moved to Puyallup, Washington to be close to both sets of their parents. Judie and Jim were blessed with five children.

Judie and Jim were divorced in 1985. During that time, Judie completed her schooling earning a bachelor’s degree in Spanish and education from Pacific Lutheran University in 1986.

Judie met George D. White, a father of four, during the spring of 1986, and they were married and blended their families on Sept. 19, 1986. They were sealed in the Seattle Temple on June 4, 1987. They welcomed their baby Damon to the family later that year. Judie and George made their home in Edgewood, Washington, where they spent many wonderful years raising 10 children and enjoying cherished relationships with many dear friends.

Judie and George served faithfully in the Seattle Temple during their time in Washington and Judie began serving as a family search support missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved the work and served for six years.  Family history was Judie’s life work. She has a love for her ancestors and worked tirelessly to link generations together for eternity.

Judie and George moved to Washington City, Utah in 2016, where they have enjoyed serving in the St. George and Cedar City Temples, as well as spending time with family that lives close by. Visits by Washington family and friends were a treat.

Judie passed away on Monday, Jan. 23, following a several-month battle with pancreatic cancer. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Richard, and granddaughters Monique White and Savannah Carlyle. She is survived by her loving husband George, six daughters, Amber Carlyle (Doug), Emily Kayner (Brian), Siri Calton (Chris), Karen White, Honor Beecher (Matt), Cori Hench (Andrew), and 4 sons, Roger White (Veronique), Ryan Dovre (Lakeisha), David White (Angie), and Damon White (Becca). Judie and George are blessed with 37 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Sat., Feb. 4, at 1 p.m. in the Washington East Stake Center at 1835 South Washington Fields Road. Interment will be at Washington City Cemetery located at 300 Park View Drive.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to think of Judie as you record your personal history, do some indexing or other family history work, or serve in the Temple.
