Charles Allen Murphy, age 80 of Hurricane, Utah, passed away Nov. 23, 2022. He was at home surrounded by family.
Charles was born in Chenoa, Illinois, Feb. 10, 1942, to his parents John Emery Murphy and Mary Susan Curtis. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Ronald Murphy and sister Dolores Lipscomb. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1964 and served during the Vietnam War. He married Miria, who preceded him in death. He later married Marilyn and had three children while he attended BYU. They later divorced.
He would then marry his eternal companion MaryAnne July 13, 1973, in Tazewell, Virginia. He graduated from Utah State with a degree in elementary education. He worked for Uintah School District, teaching at Todd Elementary. They raised their family in Roosevelt for 11 years before they moved to Southern Utah in 1986. He worked in Zion National Park for many years. Charles was a sportsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and simply being in the mountains. Gardening was a chore of pleasure for him. Growing roses was his favorite. He and MaryAnne canned most fruit, vegetables, fish, venison and jams.
He was a good husband, father, grandfather and friend who loved his family. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He will be missed.
He is survived by his wife MaryAnne, nine children Joel (Aileen) Bascom, Rachel Johnson, Miria Dingess, Sage Murphy, Jacob (Jody) Murphy, Miriah (Jason) Perkins, Logan, Joshua (Carol) Murphy, Logan, (Kristy) Murphy, Lucas (KayeEllen) Murphy, Paul Murphy (Brother), EllaMae Riggs (Sister), 28 grandkids and one great-grandchild.
The family would like to thank the Les and Lora Clapham family for their love and friendship.
