Kirk TophamDecember 6, 1954 — June 28, 2016

Kirk Topham, 61, our adored husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away June 28, 2016, at University of Utah Hospital with his wife by his side. Kirk was born December 6, 1954, in Cedar City, Utah, to Ivan V. Topham and Vada S. Ruesch. He married Carryn Clark on November 25, 1978. They had two children, Kristi and Tyler.

Kirk was raised in St. George, Utah. He graduated from Dixie High School in 1973. He loved sports, especially football and baseball. He was selected as the region 8 football player of the year in 1972-73, and Utah’s Class 2-A football MVP in 1972.

After high school he attended Dixie College and Utah Trade Tech. Kirk worked for Dick’s Café during high school and college. He then moved to Springdale to assist in caring for his grandparents, Howard and Susan Ruesch.

He worked for the City of Springdale, Driftwood Lodge, and most recently retired after 22 years of service in Zion National Park. Kirk enjoyed reading, hunting, fishing, being with family and friends, spending time outdoors and being home in Springdale. He was known for his kindness, generosity, and always putting others first. Kirk instilled in his family and those around him that caring for each other was a priority.

Kirk is survived by his wife, Carryn C. Topham; mother-in-law Venece E. Clark; children, Kristi (Scott) Tucker and Tyler J. (Kyla) Topham; grandchildren, Carter, Jake, Sam, Henry and Elly; brothers, Leinor Topham and Vince Topham; sisters, Linda (Wayne) Earl, Betty (Ray) Turner, Barbara (Tadd) Hafen, Kathy (Steve) Sullivan, Glenda (John) Timm, and sister-in-law Jaylene Topham. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents and father-in-law James E. Clark.

Funeral Services

  • Memorial service will be held Tuesday July 5, 2016, at 3 p.m. in the Springdale Community Center, 126 Lion Blvd, Springdale, Utah, followed by interment at the Springdale Jolly-Gifford Cemetery.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Metcalf Mortuary, 435-673-4221.
