May 14, 1980-Sept. 28, 2022

Brooke Anne Sorenson gained her angel wings on Sept. 28, 2022, after a brave and courageous battle with cancer. She was born on May 14, 1980, in St. George, Utah, to Clair and Reeta Sorenson. Brookey was the best gift that her older siblings, Sommer and Adam, could have ever asked for. They adored her and she adored them.

Brooke grew up in Washington City, Utah, surrounded by grandparents, aunts, uncles and lots of cousins, many of whom lived on the same block. Due to this, she had many special memories from her childhood.

Brooke easily made friends with her bright and spunky personality. She had a way of making others feel accepted and loved. She was kind and non-judgmental. She always put the needs of those she loved before her own.

Her greatest treasures in life were her three children Bodhi, Brooklyn and Caitlyn. They brought her such great joy. She was so proud of each of them. They were her everything.

Brooke was her mom’s best friend and confidante. They were two peas in a po; you would rarely see one without the other.

Brooke was a natural caregiver, which led her to the jobs she enjoyed the most. She worked at several home care facilities caring for the elderly. Her soft and compassionate heart blessed many. She also had the opportunity to work with those who had disabilities and special needs. One of her tasks while caring for these individuals was taking them to their appointments outside of the facility. Her fun and spontaneous personality always made these outings a grand adventure.

She loved being outside — biking, swimming and running.

Brooke was preceded in death by her father Clair, brother Adam, and grandparents Andrew and Clara Sorenson and Hugh (Red) and Afton Gibson.

She is survived by her three beautiful children Bodhi, Brooklyn and Caitlyn Frei; her mother Reeta Sorenson; her sister Sommer Shipp; and her niece and nephews Autumn, Britton, Greyson and Ledger Shipp, whom she adored. She is also survived by her truest and dearest friend, Rustum Huyo-a.

There will be a great void in our lives without her vibrant and caring soul. We know Brookey will be watching over us. We look forward to the day that we see her again.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Oct. 7, at 1 p.m. in the Metcalf Mortuary Chapel, 288 West St. George Blvd., St. George, Utah. A visitation will be held Friday, prior to services, from noon. to 12:45 p.m. at the mortuary. Interment will be in the Washington City Cemetery, 300 Park View Drive, Washington, Utah.
