Doris Brown Cannon, 92, died May 17, 2022, in Avondale, Arizona. She was born Aug. 26, 1929, in Cedar City, Utah, to John Middleton and Althea Lund Brown. She served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints to Frankfurt, Georgia, in 1951.
Doris married Clawson Young Cannon, Jr. on Jan. 13, 1954, in the Salt Lake Temple. They were married for 60 years when Clawson passed. She attended the College of Southern Utah and the University of Utah, before graduating from BYU in 1954. A devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, she served for many years in the Primary. She and Clawson also served a stake mission in Newark, New Jersey, a mission in the Bern Swiss Temple and as workers in the Dallas, Texas, Temple.
Doris is survived by: children Judith Bulsiewicz (Wayne “Ray”), Clawson, III “Chip” (Cynthia), Carlie Christiansen (Daven), Jonathan (Diane) and Jason; 12 grandchildren Wayne Bulsiewicz (Courtney), Jacob Bulsiewicz (Angie), Connie, Collins (Shantel), Philip Bulsiewicz (Michelle), Allan (Staci), Zachary, Hunter Christiansen, Ethan, Saige Christiansen, Kyle and Joshua Christiansen; five great-grandchildren Wayne Richard, Anthony, and Bobby Bulsiewicz, Austin, and Kaylee Cannon; brothers and sisters John (Mary), David (Nora), Lorin (Marilynn), Scott (Penny), Virginia Cate (John) and Cheryl Mitchell (Ken), sister-in-law Karen Brown and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Clawson, parents, sister Donna Homer (Don) and brothers Tom (Carol) and William (Karen).
A visitation will be held on Friday, June 3, 6:30-8 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 3882 Quail Run Road, Flower Mound, Texas. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 4, at the same address. Interment will be at the Dallas National Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the LDS Church Missionary Fund or LDS Charities or plant flowers in her honor (she loved roses, begonias, chrysanthemums, and cannas).
