Lawrence John Miner, age 97, passed away Sunday, May 15, 2016, in St. George, Utah. He was born October 12, 1918, in Nephi, Utah, to Lawrence Adams and Sarah E. Miner. He married Juliette Pace Miner on February 22, 1946, in Salt Lake City, Utah. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
John, as he was known, graduated from West High in Salt Lake City. He attended the University of Utah.
John and his wife, Julie, moved to the Santa Cruz, California, area and worked with their brother-in-law, Grant Wrathall, to construct some radio stations in Santa Cruz, Salinas, Monterey and Carmel, California. After operating the radio stations they sold out and moved back to Salt Lake City, where they joined other family members to operate radio and TV stations. In 1968 John, Julie and Brent moved to St George to acquire KDXU radio.
The family enjoyed living in Utah’s Dixie and soon it became their home. John had two sons: Dr. William John and Lawrence Brent. John loved his daughters-in-law: Linda Jo Petersen Miner and Debbie Lancaster Miner; seven grandchildren: Ashlee Miner, Michael John Miner, Lindsay Connelley, Lacey Etta, Jodi Trask, Chanel Gilbert, Jackson Brent Miner; 13 great-grandchildren.
John is preceded in death by his wife, Juliette Pace Miner, and his son, Dr. William John Miner.
Funeral Services
- Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2016, at 11 a.m., at the St. George LDS 5th Ward Chapel, 85 S. 400 East, St. George, Utah.
- A visitation will held Saturday, prior to services, from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the Chapel.
- Interment will be held in the St. George City Cemetery, St. George, Utah.
