December 30, 1935 – October 14, 2015
Our beloved Jeanne quietly passed away on October 14, 2015, in Sandy, after several years of suffering the debilitating effects of Dementia.
Carol Jeanne Johnson Ogden East was born on December 30, 1935, the first child of George Steiner and Ila Nebeker Johnson in Annabella, Utah. She grew up in Richfield, and became the big sister to two brothers, Steiner Neil and Rodney Blain. She loved the Lord and had a strong testimony of Jesus Christ and the LDS church. In her early years, she received 100 percent attendance certificates for both primary and mutual.
She attended school in Richfield, Utah. In high school, Jeanne had a large circle of girlfriends who continued their friendships for many years. She met and married Larry Ross Ogden in 1952 in Richfield, Utah. Larry was in the Air Force at the time and after the wedding they moved to Nebraska. Upon his release from the service, they made their home in Reseda, California, and later Thousand Oaks, California, where they raised their two children, Larry Kim and Cynthia Ann. They later divorced. Larry passed away on November 17, 1979.
Jeanne married L. David East, on May 26, 1970, in Las Vegas, Nevada, and became the step-mom to Dave’s four children, Gary, Frank, Cyndi and David. Jeanne and David were sealed in the Los Angeles Temple on April 24, 1998.
Upon Dave’s retirement, Jeanne and David moved to St. George, Utah. They loved the St. George temple and would go there every Friday evening on their “date night”. She and David had the privilege of doing the temple work for Jeanne’s deceased parents. Her beloved David passed away March 20, 2011 in St. George Utah. After David’s passing, Jeanne moved to Salt Lake City to be closer to family. She was a resident of the Sandy Regional Care Facility at the time of her death.
Jeanne was a professional artist and her artwork graces the homes of many people in California and Utah, who loved her beautiful paintings. She kept a large collection of beautiful photos which she hoped to paint one day. She loved to fish with her husband and dad and spent many vacations in Fish Lake. She loved life, the Lord, and her family more than anything.
