Putnam, Matthew1968 – October 12, 2015

Matthew Harris Putnam, age 47, passed away October 12, 2015, in Arizona. He was born in St. George to Howard and Martine Harris Putnam.

Matthew attended Dixie High School, graduated from Dixie College and was working on a master’s degree from Walden University. Matthew currently worked for the Southwest Utah Mental Health Department.

As a young man, he served an honorable mission in Jacksonville, Florida. After his mission, he married Rachel Webb in the St. George LDS Temple. As a member of the LDS Church, he faithfully held several positions.

Matthew was a plumber for 35 years and loved working with his sons, Tyson and Nicholas. He was extremely proud of his daughter, Abbie, whom he had recently taken to enroll at Snow College in Ephraim.

Matthew loved the outdoors and his computer. He was a loving husband and father with a captivating smile and sparkling blue eyes.

Matthew is survived by his wife, Rachel; children, Abbie, Tyson and Nicholas; father, Howard Putnam; stepmother, Mary Esther Staheli-Putnam of Pine Valley; siblings, Rebecca (Rick) Page of Rexburg, Idaho, Jon (Maury Truman) Putnam of Bunkerville, Nevada, Jeffrey (Chris Clove) Putnam of Veyo, Utah, Christine (Gary) Nelson of Roosevelt, Utah, Maryann Stoddard of Dallas, Texas, Joel (Fran Frehner) Putnam of Boise, Idaho, Lisa (Mike) Isom of Knoxville, Tennessee, Mel (Cami Davies) Putnam of Green Valley, Nevada; and mother-in-law, Shirley Webb of St. George.

Funeral Services

  • Funeral services will be Monday, Oct. 19, 11 a.m. in the Washington Fields LDS Chapel, 1835 S. Washington Fields Road, Washington.
  • Visitations will be Sunday, Oct. 18, 6-8 p.m., in the Spilsbury Mortuary, 110 S. Bluff Street, St. George, and on Monday, 9:30-10:30 a.m., in the Washington Fields LDS Chapel prior to services.
  • Interment will be in the St. George City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to a fund at Wells Fargo under the name, Matthew Putnam, to help the family cover funeral costs.

Arrangements have been made under the direction of Spilsbury Mortuary 435-673-2454.
